Delhi Court Condemns Accused After He Plead Guilty For Rioting In Northeast Delhi

Delhi court sentenced an accused after he pleaded guilty to rioting and other offenses in a case relating to the 2020 riots in northeast Delhi. The case is linked to disturbances at Gokulpuri police station. He was the first defendant convicted. On December 6, 2021, he was found guilty of setting fire to the home of a 73-year-old. The matter will now be heard in court on September 15.

Stone-Pelting In Delhi, Three Arrested

Three people involved in a stone-pelting incident in Delhi have been arrested by the Delhi police, and as many as thirty-seven others have been arrested. The Delhi police says that it all started with a quarrel between two groups at Photo Chowk in Delhi's Welcome area. An FIR has been registered under the section of riots. More details are awaited as the investigation is currently underway.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot: Rioters Will Not Be Spared

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has warned that those who engage in rioting, will not be spared. "No one has the right to take law and order in their hands," he was quoted as saying. He also took a shot at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of bulldozing houses of the poor. The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the Rajasthan government for a report on Jodhpur violence.

Khargone: Curfew Relaxed For Nine Hours

The curfew in Khargone has been relaxed for nine hours, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The curfew had been imposed owing to incidents of stone-pelting and violence in the district last month. Sumer Singh Mujalda says that Eid prayers must be offered at home only. Several people were left injured last month after violence had broken out during a procession.

The Government of Punjab, on April 30, suspended internet and SMS services in Patiala, following clashes between two groups in the city over an anti-Khalistan procession. Amid Clashes In Patiala, 3 Cops Transferred

Three cops have been transferred following clashes in Patiala. Violence had broken out near the Kali Mata temple in Patiala earlier on 29th April, after an anti-Khalistan march was taken out in the area. As the situation escalated, four were left injured. A curfew had been imposed in the city in the aftermath of the clashes towards the evening, which has since been lifted.

Violence Breaks Out At Shiv Sena's Rally In Patiala

Violence broke out near the Kali Mata temple in Patiala on 29th April as two groups clashed. The situation grew tense when the Shiv Sena party took out a procession, but without any permission. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann called the incident "unfortunate." In a tweet, he wrote, "Punjab's peace and harmony are of utmost importance." He also noted that peace had been restored in that area.

Minor Road Accident Leads To 'Riots' In Vadodara

A minor road accident has caused a communal storm in Vadodara, owing to the fact that the two parties involved belong to two different communities. Riots have since broken out in the area. While some rioters vandalised vehicles, others pelted stones. A combing operation was conducted by the cops in the area. Nineteen of the rioters have been arrested so far. Reportedly, the situation in Vadodara is under control now.

Person Injured In BJP-Congress Clash, Complaint Filed

In South Goa, a person identified as Pradeep Mayekar, father of a BJP worker, was seriously injured amid BJP-Congress clash, after election results on Holi. On March 19, police registered cross complaints and deployed police for law & order. Notably, Goa CM Pramod Sawant visited Chicalim Hospital to see the patient and uploaded pictures on Facebook. "I have asked the police to take strict action against the culprits," said Sawant.
