Assam: 12 Year Old Jumps Into River For Not Buying Puja Clothes
In a distressing incident, a 12-year-old boy , who was reportedly saddened over not receiving new clothes for the Durga Puja festivities, leaped off a bridge and into the river at Golakganj in Assam’s Dhubri district. The deceased has been identified as Suman Roy, a student of class 8 at Gaikhowa Gandhigram Middle School. The drastic step of the kid has left the family in shock.

Minor’s Mortal Remains Found After Going Missing In River: Kerala
The mortal remains of a 11-year-old boy who went missing in a river of village Thirupperunthura, has been recovered by a diving team under Southern Naval Command in Kochi on September 11. Following the incident, a diving request was received from Alapuzha’s district collector on September 10. The body of the boy has been recovered and handed over to the district authorities.

Two Army Jawans Stationed In Arunachal Pradesh On India-China Border Reported Missing
For the past 14 days, two Army jawans from the 7th Garhwal Rifles have been missing along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. Harendra Negi and Prakash Singh Rana were identified as the missing soldiers. On June 9, a phone call informed that both men had died in the river. Poonam, Negi's wife, expressed her disbelief that both soldiers went near the river and requested an explanation from the army.

60-Yr-Old Australian Man Uses Pocket Knife To Fight Massive Crocodile
Officials stated on November 10 that a 60-year-old Australian man escaped the jaws of a big crocodile by slashing it in the head multiple times with a pocket knife as it pulled him into the river. According to wildlife police, the man was "lucky to be alive" after surviving the harrowing assault on an isolated riverbank in Australia's far-northern Peninsula. "He, fortunately, escaped the grip of a four-meter crocodile," official stated.

Maharashtra Has Highest Polluted Rivers; About 53 Rivers Impure
According to a report by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), there are 351 polluted rivers across the States and Union Territories. Notably, of which Maharashtra has the highest number of polluted rivers, that is 53, followed by Assam (44), Madhya Pradesh (22), Kerala (21), Gujrat (20), and others. Reportedly, the major cause of the contamination is the discharge of sewage water into the river.

Bihar Man Lifts His Bride On Shoulder, Crosses River Bank
Shiv Kumar, a resident of the Kishanganj district in Bihar carried his newly-wed bride on his shoulder in order to cross the Kainkai river. The groom, along with the other wedding guests got stuck in the river due to the shallow water level while returning home. ''I had no option... no alternate route to reach my home,'' said the groom. Meanwhile, the video went viral over social media.

Maharashtra: Nashik Man Takes Initiative To Conserve Godavari River
A Twitter post of IFS officer Swetha Boddu has brought a Nashik resident, named Chandra Kishore Patil, into limelight. Chandra stands beside the Godavari river everyday from morning till night and prevents people from tossing plastic bags into it. The IFS officer posted Chandra's photo on Twitter and praised his efforts to conserve the river. Patil has been doing this work for five years and wants to continue till he can.
