Delhi Govt Launches New Initiative To Avoid Accidents, Ensuring Road Safety
Aiming for road safety in Delhi and avoiding accidents, the Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) of Delhi launched a month-long ‘Tactical Urbanism Trial’. The new project was launched on October 15, at the Signature Bridge, connecting Wazirabad across the Yamuna to East Delhi. Road Accident In Ahmednagar Leaves Six Dead
A road accident in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar has left six people dead, and seven others injured. The incident took place in the morning of 6th May. The area of the accident falls under the jurisdiction of the Kopargaon police station.A police official shared, "A speeding container truck hit the three-wheeler Ape rickshaw, which was carrying passengers." Car-Bike Collision In Delhi Leaves Three Dead
A brutal car-bike collision in Delhi's Shakarpur has left three dead, while two others have sustained injuries. Two of the victims have been identified as sisters Bharti (19) and Jyoti (17). The identity of the third victim, the bike rider with a Zomato shirt on, is yet not known. When the police reached the spot, they found a mangled car lying upside down, and a badly damaged bike.

Bus-SUV Collision Leaves 6 Dead, Others Injured
A collision between a bus and an SUV in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, has left six dead, and more injured. The incident occurred on the Gauri Bazar-Rudrapur road on the night of 18th April. Commenting on the matter, the Superintendent of the Deoria police, Shripati Mishra, explained that the incident had happened close to 11:30 PM when both the vehicles coming from opposite directions collided, resulting in the tragedy.

Delhi High Court Urge BIS To Monitor Manufacturing, Sale Of Helmets
Taking note of safety standards, the Delhi High Court on April 12 urged the Bureau of Indian Standards to oversee the selling and manufacturing of helmets. Reportedly, the plea filed by NGO 'Utprerit Consumer Foundation' failed to receive answers from BIS over its 1,400 complaints filed since 2019. Co-driver Airbag Compulsory For India-Made Cars From Aug 31
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced that dual front airbags will be mandatory for all cars manufactured in India from August 31. For the new models that will enter the Indian market, the rule will be effective from April 1 itself. Currently, co-driver airbag is an optional feature that has been provided by some car brands. With the new rule in place, revision of car prices is also expected.

Govt Draft Provisions Body Wearable, Dashboard Cameras For Police
Aiming to make road safety stricter, the Centre has prepared a draft to provide body wearable and dashboard fitted cameras to the police. Along with the violators, the wearable cameras also aim at checking "malpractices" by police as the camera will keep a record of whether the offenders were duly tackled. While the draft was issued as an amendment the US and UK have already been using similar cameras.

Most Road Accidents Happen Due To Use Of Mobile While Driving: Survey
