Rohit Sharma, 3rd Indian Captain To Win ODI Series In England

Rohit Sharma, team's captain, became the third captain to have his team win an ODI series in England after their five-wicket victory over England in final ODI. Rishabh Pant's unbeaten 125* and 133-run partnership with Hardik Pandya helped India chase down 260 and win three-match series 2-1 in Manchester. Apart from Rohit, the only two Indian captains to win an ODI series in England are MS Dhoni and Mohammed Azharuddin.

Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah on July 14 were exempted from the five T20Is against the West Indies, which begin on July 29 in the Caribbean and the United States. KL Rahul, who just underwent surgery for a sports hernia, and Kuldeep Yadav were included on the 18-man team, subject to fitness. Ravichandran Ashwin has also returned to the T20 squad.

India skipper Rohit Sharma has overtaken New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to become the highest ODI run-scorer as a visiting batsman in England on July 12. Rohit currently has 1411 runs in 25 innings, surpassing Williamson's previous best of 1393 runs in 23 innings. Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan also carved their names in history by becoming only the fourth opening partnership in ODI history to reach 5000 runs together.

Rohit is now one win away from matching former Australia captain Ricky Ponting's total of 20 victories. With 14 victories as a captain, the skipper presently holds the record for most wins as a captain in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma To Join Indian Squad In England For T20I, Recovers From Covid-19

India captain Rohit Sharma is all set to join the Indian squad in England after being negative for Covid-19. On July 4, the BCCI shared a video, in which Sharma was seen batting in the nets with the caption, "Out and about in the nets! Gearing up for some white-ball cricket." With Covid-19 recovery, Rohit will be in white-ball first T20I series, against England, in Southampton on July 7.
