Indian Railways Reveals Earning Profit Of Rs 2,800 Crores Revising Norms

Indian Railways has earned an additional revenue of more than Rs 2,800 crore from child travellers in the last seven years by revising child travel fare norms, an RTI response has found. The response from the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act further indicates that the financial year of 2022-23 alone earned Rs 560 crore, amid amended norms.

BMC Spends Rs 21,000 On Repair, Maintenance and Construction Of Roads: RTI

Replying to Andheri MLA Ameet Satam's Right to Information (RTI) plea, the civic body has reported that Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has spent a total of Rs 21,000 crores on the repair, maintenance, and construction of new roads in the last 24 years. Most of the money was spent between 2013-2014 which amounts to Rs 3,201 crore. “Bad roads are among the most pressing problems in this city,” said Satam.

Estranged Wife Marries Father-In-Law; Complaint Lodged

A 22-year-old man from UP's Budaun district through an RTI found that his estranged wife had married his 48-years-old father. Besides, they have a two-year-old child. Reportedly, the son had married the girl in 2016, when they were minors, but they separated due to a domestic dispute. However, the man lodged a complaint, and the investigation is underway.

35 Maha IPS Officers Owe Crores For Overstaying In Govt Quarters

In a shocking revelation, 35 incumbent and retired Indian Police Service officers owe the Maharashtra government Rs 3.82 crore in penalties for continuing to live in official housing after being removed from their postings. Interestingly, two of them are former top-cops of Mumbai Police, one of whom is now a two-term BJP MP. Notably, the defaulters list also includes several high ranking police officers who are currently in service.

44 Lakh+ COVID Doses Wasted; TN Records Highest, Kerala, Bengal Zero

The Health Ministry has informed that over 44 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine were wasted until April 11. While the wastage was highest in Tamil Nadu (12%), no vaccine wastage was recorded in Kerala, Goa, West Bengal, Daman and Diu, Himachal, Mizoram, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar. Replying to an RTI, the ministry disclosed that while Haryana wasted 9/100 doses, Punjab and Manipur misused 8% of COVID jabs.
