Kazakhstan's Rare Animal 'Saiga' Doubles Population In Two-Years
Kazakhstan’s Saiga, a rare type of antelope, has doubled its population to 8,42,000 from 3,34,000 in the last two years. The species were marked as critically endangered in 2015. "They give birth to twins every year, which gives a high potential for the species to quickly recover," said Albert Salengareyev of ACBK. Reportedly, only 1,000 animals were left in 2015 and now it has increased up to 12,000.
