The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a dig against the Indian National Congress, for its "Bharat Jodo Yatra", which started on September 7. BJP's Sambit Patra said, "It's not 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' but 'Bharat Todo' and 'Aag Lagao Yatra'. The statement came after Congress shared a picture of Khaki shorts of RSS being burnt on Twitter handle. The BJP and RSS took offence and asked Rahul Gandhi to take image down.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra left a TV debate in-between on June 7 after Congress spokesperson Mukesh Sharma called him "gutter Patra" while discussing PM Narendra Modi's address to the nation. In a viral video of the verbal exchange, Patra had allegedly called Rahul Gandhi a "Tithari chidiya" which drew the response from Sharma. Earlier, another Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate had called Patra "naali ka keeda" on live TV.

Just hours after Twitter flagged BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra's 'toolkit' tweet as "manipulated media", the IT Ministry has asked the microblogging site to drop the tag. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra on May 10 attacked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for spending Rs 804.93 crores on advertisements but not opening even "a single hospital". Yashraj Mukhate's viral "Rasode mein kaun tha" video has taken place in political debates as well. While discussing on a Congress party president issue during a live debate on the national TV, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra mocked his counterpart, Congress spokesperson, Pawan Khera and called Rahul Gandhi "Rashi" from the video. Sonia Gandhi is currently the interim president for the party until the next AICC session.
