Sangli Mass Suicide: Police Suspect 9 Family Members Committed 'Suicide Due To Loan' In Maharashtra

Following the deaths of nine members from a family in Maharashtra's Sangli, police suspect the matter to be a case of "suicide due to loan". Reportedly, a suicide note mentioned that the family was troubled by some private money lenders. Furthermore, an FIR under Section 306 (Abetment to suicide) has been filed against 25 persons, and 13 have been arrested so far.

9 Members Of Family Found Dead In Maharashtra's Sangli, Case Of 'Mass Suicide' Filed

In Maharashtra's Sangli district, nine members of a family were found dead at Mhaisal, on June 20. A case of suicide has been filed. Reportedly, three bodies were found in one house, and six in another. "The entire team of police is here. The investigation is being done," said Sangli Superintendent of Police Dikshit Gedam. He further stated that the reason for the deaths is unkown.

Maharastra Doctor Arrested For Over-Charging COVID Patients

Maharastra Police arrested Dr. Mahesh Jadhav, who serves at 'Apex Cares Hospital' in Sangli, under the charges of over-charging patients and culpable homicide. Several complaints were registered and people claim lack of equipments & other facilities needed to treat COVID-19 patients. The 36-year-old doctor has been remanded by the Magistrate Court and sent to police custody for 7 days.
