Veteran Bengali actor Pradip Mukherjee, who was admitted to the hospital for a lung infection, passed away on August 29. The 76-year-old actor was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for a lung infection and was later shifted to a state-run hospital. Mirza Kaukub Qadr, the great-grandson of the last ruler of Awadh Nawab Wajid Ali Shah and an ex-professor of the Aligarh Muslim University, died at 87 in Kolkata on September 13. He is survived by his wife from Lucknow’s Khandaan-e-Ijtehaad family, and six children. He will be buried at his family burial ground Gulshanabad in Kolkata. He had worked as a research consultant for Satyajit Ray’s film ‘Shatranj ke Khilari’.
