Satyender Jain Gets Interim Bail On Medical Grounds
In breaking news, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyender Jain. The grant of bail was given on medical grounds, as the former Delhi Health Minister suddenly felt unconscious in Tihar Jail. He was rushed to the Deen Dayal Hospital, following which was shifted to the LNPJ Hospital in Delhi. Notably, Jain was arrested in 2022, by the ED in connection with money-laundering case.

Same Sex Marriage: SC Asks Centre To Provide Benefits Similar To Marriage
In a relief to homosexual, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to find a way to give same-sex couples basic social benefits, like joint bank accounts or nominating a partner in insurance policies, even without legal recognition of their marital status. The statement came during an ongoing hearing into a bunch of PILs filed in the Top Court, seeking legal validation for same-sex marriage in India.

SC Calls Bilkis Bano Gang Rape, Horrendous Crime, Adjourns Hearing
The Supreme Court reviewed the plea challenging the pre-release of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano Gang Rape case. Duribg the court hearing, the SC bench led by Justice Joseph called the crime of murder and rape as horrendous and issued a notice, seeking the details about the trail proceedings and sentence, each convict served in Jail. With this, the Apex Court adjourned the matter to April 18.

Manish Sisodia Moves SC Against CBI Probe & Arrest
Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia moved the Supreme Court (SC,) against the CBI arrest and the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam probe. After the CBI court remanded the AAP leader in the scam case till March 4, Manish Sisodia, filed a petition in the Top Court. Abhishek Singhvi filed petition on behalf of Sisodia, requesting for an urgent hearing. CJI DY Chandrachud is likely to hear the matter on February 28.

SC Issues Notice To Central Govt Regarding Banned BBC Documentary
The Supreme Court (SC) issued a notice to the Central Government over the banned BBC Documentary on PM Narendra Modi. Reviewing a plea, the SC directed the Centre to produce original records of its decision to suspend tweets circulating links to the controversial documentary, "India: The Modi Question' on the 2002 Gujarat Riots. The SC bench gave three weeks' time to the Centre and adjourned the matter in April.

Telangana Govt Raises ST Reservations By 4% Educational Institutions & Govt Services
The state government of Telangana has increased the reservation for Scheduled Tribe (ST) community by 4% in all educational institutions and government services. The new quota has come into immediate effect. The ST reservations in the state now stands at 10%, compared to the previous 6%. Reportedly, the move has been taken keeping in mind the 10% ST population in the state.

UP Sisters Death Case: 6 Arrested, 1 Shot In Leg During Encounter
In the “UP sisters death case,” police have arrested six persons for their alleged connection to the case, while one was shot in the leg during an encounter. The sisters belonged to the Scheduled Caste community, and were found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on September 14. According to the police, the girls had a love affair with two of the accused.

SC Allows Release Of 'Jhund' On OTT Platforms
The Supreme Court has allowed the release of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Jhund' on OTT platforms, staying the interim order passed by the Telangana High Court. A bench comprising Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice AS Bopanna, noted, "The High Court has overlooked the principles with regard to the grant of interim relief." The court also issued a notice to the film-maker, who had filed a plea in the High Court.

Congress Delegations Meet Families Affected By Jahangirpuri Demolition
After the NDMC's encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri, a Congress delegation led by GS Ajay Maken on April 21, visited Jahangirpuri and met with the families, affected by the demolition drive. Notably, on April 20, the NDMC demolished properties at the clash hit Jahangirpuri area of North Delhi. Maken said, "We have come to Jahangirpuri to meet the victims. Police have been cooperative".
