Tripura government has decided to readmit all students aged 6 to 14 who had to discontinue their education. The decision was taken after the education department performed a study that revealed 8,850 students in Grades 1 through 8 had dropped out due to closure of physical education classes because of Covid pandemic. As part of School Cholo Abhiyan, the department will embark on an inquiry to re-enroll all dropout children.

A report in the ‘Sarvekshana’ journal of NSO has revealed that two-thirds of children still drop out of schools in India. The report cited lack of interest in education as the major reason behind it. Uttar Pradesh government is planning to install sanitary pad vending machines at 1,000 government girls' high schools and intermediate colleges. The initiative has been allotted Rs 3 Crore under 'Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan' scheme and is intended to curb the drop-out rate of girls. Earlier, a survey had reported that around 28 lakh adolescent girls in the state missed schools every month, owing to menstrual problems.
