Amid Vaccination Drive, Centre Likely To Issue School Reopening Advisory

Amid ongoing vaccination drive, which is underway for children, the Centre is likely to issue an advisory pertaining to reopening of schools throughout the country. As per sources, National Expert Group were asked to suggest ways and modalities to open schools across India, as schools mostly remained closed since the outbreak of pandemic. It is being said that Centre wants to reopen schools under strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.

LKG & UKG To Resume From November 8: Karnataka

As per notice issued by Department of Public Instruction on November 4, pre-primary schools - LKG and UKG will resume on November 8 in all districts of Karnataka where Covid positivity rate is less than 2%. Masks are made compulsory for teachers and employees are required to be vaccinated, as per the SOPs. Masks for students are not required, as experts stated children below 5 years "need not wear masks".

400 Students Tested COVID Positive After Schools Re-Opened: TN

Owing to the re-opening of schools in Tamil Nadu, Health Secretary J Radhakrishanan revealed that almost 400 students in the state have tested positive for covid-19. Besides, the state health department is regularly monitoring the situation as the infection rate is at its peak. However, the situation in the state was not alarming and most of the cases were isolated and sporadic.

Schools, Colleges & Universities To Reopen With 50% Attendance: Bihar

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on July 5 announced that schools, colleges, and universities will reopen with 50% attendance. He tweeted that special arrangements will be made for vaccinating adult students, teachers, and staff of the institution. Government Training Institutes will also reopen with 50% attendance. Earlier, due to the second wave, the Bihar government had announced summer vacations for the institutes from May 1 to June 30.

The centre as well as the state governments refused to the reopening of schools until COVID-19 situations are under  control. Several parents have demanded the reopening of schools witnessing a decrease in number of cases under the second wave of COVID-19. However, the survey stated only 30% of the parents are willing to send their children to school while 70% declined the idea.
