Schools In Rajasthan's Kota & Bundi Districts To Be Closed On August 23 Due To Severe Rainfall
As the state of Rajasthan continues to experience severe rains, schools in the Kota and Bundi districts will be closed on August 23. District administration and the government made the decision to extend the holiday due to a flood-like situation in both districts. Additionally, the IMD has issued a warning regarding isolated sections of Rajasthan's eastern and western regions experiencing severe rain.

Haridwar Schools To Be Closed From July 20 To July 26 Due To Kanwar Yatra
Haridwar district magistrate in Uttarakhand on July 17 issued a six-day holiday from July 20 to July 26 for all of the district's schools and Anganwadi centers due to growing number of Kanwar Yatra pilgrims and potential road closures for procession. An annual pilgrimage by followers of Lord Shiva called "Kanwar Yatra" began on July 14. The pilgrimage resumes this year after a two-year hiatus because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Red, Orange Alert In Many Areas Of Maharashtra Due To Heavy Rains, Schools-Colleges Closed Till July 16
Due to the heavy rain forecast for July 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, Amravati, and Thane. Amravati, and Thane. For Palghar, Nashik, and Pune, a red alert has been declared. Schools and institutions in Maharashtra's flood-affected districts will stay closed till July 16, except for government agencies performing vital duties.

Sri Lanka Shut Schools, Urges Work From Home To Save Fuel Amid Economic Crisis
Sri Lanka Troops distributed tokens to citizens standing in lines for fuel on June 27 amid a severe fuel scarcity in the country grappling with its worst economic crisis. Colombo's schools are closed and public employees are told to work from home. Sri Lanka is having trouble paying for imports of food, medicine, and most crucially, fuel since its foreign exchange reserves are at an all-time low.

Educational Institutions In UP To Remain Closed Till January 30: COVID-19
To control the spread of COVID-19, all the educational institutions in Uttar Pardesh will remain closed till January 30. However, classes will continue through online-mode, official said. The government had earlier ordered to shut schools, colleges till January 23, but the order has now been extended, as there are currently 95,866 active COVID-19 cases in the state. Notably, the cumulative death toll stood at 23,022.

Uttarakhand Govt Shuts Schools Again As 80 Teachers Test COVID Positive
After around 80 teachers tested positive for COVID-19, Uttarakhand government has ordered the closure of schools in the region affected. Reportedly, 84 schools in five blocks of Pauri district were shut again, just days after their reopening on November 2. The State Health Secretary has also directed all the District Magistrates of the state to conduct the COVID-19 test of all the teachers who are on-duty.
