Prince Charles To Become King Of England Following Queen Elizabeth’s Death

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, Charles has become the King of England. The nation is presently mourning its longest reigned monarch, who died at the age of 96. Prince Charles, who is 73-years-old, will be crowned the king in a traditional ceremony dating back to hundreds of years. Charles has his own set of challenges coming up, as Scotland is pressing for independence.

In Historic First, Queen May Pick New UK Prime Minister In Scotland: Report

According to a media report on August 26, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is set to undertake the traditional ceremony to select a newly elected leader as the country's prime minister at her Balmoral Castle estate in Scotland. According to "The Sun," she has secret arrangements to meet with the two contestants in Scotland. It would be the first time that a parliamentary election took place outside of London or Windsor.

U.K's Long Lasting Snow Patch Melts After 300 Years

The United Kingdom's long lasting snow patch, "the Sphinx", which had survived through countless summer seasons, melted away for the eighth time in 300 years. Ironically, the snow patch found on Braeriach in Scotland, melted on the day COP26 was scheduled. Experts believe rise in climate temperature to be the cause. "How prescient it is, our long lasting patch of snow melted on the eve of COP26", said the expert.

UN Weather Agency Warns World Over Climate Change

The United Nation weather agency on October 25 warned against the increase in carbon dioxide levels which surged to 413.2 parts per million in 2020. Reportedly, despite the COVID-19 lockdowns, the average rate of carbon emission doesn't seem to dip. However, a meeting of nearly 200 countries in Scotland's Glasgow is scheduled for next month in a view to reduce emissions and increase efforts to tackle global warming.

Bangladesh all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan has surpassed Lasith Malinga, in becoming the leading wicket-taker in the T20I format.
