South Korea Stores Over 1L Seeds Of 4,751 Plant Varieties In Vault
Baekdudaegan National Arboretum Seed Vault Centre in South Korea has stored more than 100,000 seeds of 4,751 plant varieties so that the species are not lost in an “apocalyptic” situation. Termed as safest spot in South Korea, mountain on which the vault is located can withstand a 6.9 magnitude earthquake and an atomic strike. Interestingly, there are only two such places in the world, the other being in Svalbard.

Maharashtra: Scientists Develop New Variety of Wheat Which Provides Increased Yield
Scientists from Agharkar Research Institute (ARI)- an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) have developed a new variety of wheat called 'MACS 6478' which shows a stark growth in the yield. The new variety offers nearly two times more yield than the older "Lok 1" and "HD 2189" varieties for the farmers in Karanjkhop village in Maharashtra. SEEDS Joins Hands With Honeywell To Provide 10 Million Meals To Needy
Delhi-based NGO, Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS), has collaborated with Honeywell to provide 10.7 million meals to people, across nine cities, who were hit by the COVID-19 lockdown. The NGO said that in the first phase of the drive, they supplied 3.7 million meals in five cities. However, it stated that the number of the needy has come down as the country has begun moving towards resumption.
