Delhi Witnesses 28.69% Rise In Crimes Against Senior Citizens: NCRB

Delhi is the most unsafe for senior citizens among all metropolitan cities in India accounting, revealed the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data.  On August 30, they revealed that for over 27% of total crimes committed in Delhi, are against people aged 60 years and above. Moreover, the national capital has also witnessed a 28.69% surge in crime against senior citizens in 2021 as compared to the previous year.

Indian Govt Launches National Helpline, Portal Services For Senior Citizens

On the occasion of International Day for Old People, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu unveiled a national helpline and an online portal to help senior citizens across India in New Delhi on October 1. The helpline number 14567, will be active for 12 hours a day to resolve the citizens' grievances. The portal, Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity (SACRED), will provide them suitable jobs to live self-reliant life.

Delhi Police Start 'COVI Van' Helpline To Assist Elderly Amid Pandemic

Helping elderly people, the Delhi Police have set up a 24*7 vehicle helpline 'COVI Van' in South Delhi. The door-to-door service will help senior citizens with their hospitalization, vaccination, and daily groceries. Each such vehicle will have a police officer and a beat officer in it who will assist the elderly people. In case of any emergency, one can call on 011 26241076 to avail the facility.

Air India on December 16 announced to provide 50% concession on the base fare to senior citizens of Indian nationality.
