India Wins Total Five Medals In U23 World Wrestling Championship 2021

The U23 World Wrestling Championship 2021 concluded on November 7 in Serbia's capital Belgrade. India won five medals in the event in different categories. The event is also said to be India's most successful performance since the beginning of the event in 2017. Shivani Pawar won silver in 50kg, Anju win bronze in 55kg followed by Divya Kakran (62kg) Radhika (65kg), and Nisha Dahiya (72kg).

Notably, Silva is on a five-match losing streak since 2015 and has stayed away from MMA since his last 2017 knock-out loss.

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo was seen throwing his Captain's armband in frustration after he was denied the winning goal in the FIFA qualifier against Serbia on March 28. The match ended up being a 2-2 draw, as referee Danny Makkeli denied the goal despite the ball crossed the goal line. About his armband protest, Ronaldo wrote on Instagram, "Being captain of Portugal team is one of the greatest...pride and privilege".

Serbian Orthodox Church Leader Patriarch Irinej Dies Of COVID-19

Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Irinej, succumbed to the COVID-19 on November 20. The 90-year-old was admitted at a military hospital since November 4. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said, “I was honoured to know you. People like you never depart.” Notably, on November 1, Irinej went against the COVID precautionary measures, where he led a funeral rally of the Church's senior cleric with thousands of participants.

Wrestling Federation Plans To Send Full Contingent To Belgrade World Cup

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is preparing to bring its wrestlers back on the mat with the Belgrade championship, Serbia. India will be sending both Men and Women freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers from all weight divisions. The World Championship, earlier scheduled from December 12 to 20, was called off after U.S and Japan's pandemic concerns. It will now likely to be held next month as 'Individual World Cup'.
