Switzerland Along With 8 EU Nations Clear Covishield For Travel Pass

Serum Institute of India's Covishield vaccine is cleared for a travel pass in eight EU nations- Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Estonia, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, and Switzerland. Amidst issues of Covishield's travel pass clearance, Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute tweeted on June 28, "I have taken this up at the highest levels and hope to resolve this matter soon." In the past, EMA had cleared only four vaccines.

Serum Institute Seeks Govt Nod To Manufacture Sputnik V In India

Indigenous vaccine-maker Serum Institute of India on June 2 requested the DCGI to grant approval for manufacturing of Russia's COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V in India. The company has also applied for conducting clinical trials of the vaccine. While six Indian companies are already in an agreement to manufacture the vaccine, SII will be the seventh one to join the league. Currently, Dr Reddy's Laboratories is manufacturing Sputnik V in India.

Nepal Seeks International Help Over Vaccine Delays Promised By India

Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli lamented that India did not fulfill their promise of giving enough vaccines. Reportedly, Nepal was promised to receive one-million doses of COVID vaccines to administer second jab to its citizens. Requesting help from China, US and other countries, Oli said unless timely second dose is given, the first dose will be meaningless. Notably, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka also sought vaccines from the Serum Institute.

Vaccine Dearth: K'taka Urges 18+ Folks Not To Flock Vaccine Centres On May 1

Owing to the limited vaccine stocks in the state, Karnataka government on April 30 urged people of in 18-44 age group not to gather at vaccination centers on May 1. State health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar also assured that the state will soon receive their order of one crore vaccines from the Serum Institute of India. Bombay HC Rejects PIL Seeking Uniform Price For Indian COVID Vaccines

The Bombay High Court on April 29 refused to hear a PIL seeking an order to the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech to fix the price of vaccines at Rs 150 plus GST per dose. Instead, the HC suggested to consult the Supreme Court citing the issue as a pan-Indian. The PIL was filed by a Mumbai-based advocate Fayaz Khan and three other law students.

DCGI Allows Usage Of Covishield Vaccine For 9 Months From Manufacture

Drug Controller General of India on March 31 extended the usage time limit of Oxford-AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine Covishield. The vaccine earlier permitted usage for six months after the date of manufacture, can now be used for nine months from its manufacturing date. Writing to the Serum Institute of India, the DCGI stated that all details about the stock should be submitted to DCGI's office and Central Drugs Authority.
