Rahul Gandhi Challenges Conviction In Modi Surname Defamation Case

The Rahul Gandhi conviction intensified as the Indian National Congress leader will challenge the conviction of the Surat Court in the Modi Surname row. In a statement, Gandhi filed a petition, asking the sessions court to set aside the Magistrate's order convicting him in the defamation case. Notably, a Surat court found Rahul Gandhi guilty for his remark and convicted him with two-year imprisonment, creating a political ruckus.

Man Who Threatened Ambani, Family Gets Bail By Session Court

A sessions court in Mumbai has granted bail to Bishnu Bhowmik (56,) arrested for calling up the landline number of Reliance Hospital in Mumbai and threatening to kill industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family. On September 19, the Additional sessions judge AA Kulkarni granted bail to Bhowmik against a personal bond of Rs 15,000. Furthermore, the bail was in view of medical grounds, confirming Bhowmik was suffering from bipolar-disorder.

Mumbai Court Rejects Salman Khan's Interim Defamation Suit Against Neighbor

Salman Khan's interim defamation plea against his NRI neighbor Ketan Kakkar has been rejected by a session court in Mumbai, on March 31. The court said, there is documented proof that proved allegations of Kakkar that Khan was restraining him from approaching his land. Recently, Salman Khan filed a defamation case against Kakkar over his remarks in a YouTube interview, based on allegations of encroachment of land on Khan.

Court Sentences Convicts Of Minor's Gang Rape To 30 Years In Jail: Jharkhand

The District and Sessions Court sentenced three youth accused of gang rape to 30 years and seven years of imprisonment, on December 8. Reportedly, the three were accused for kidnapping and raping a minor girl near Basantaria police station, in 2018. Rs 1 lakh of fine has been imposed by the court on those convicted for 30 years while Rs 50,000 on the youth convicted for seven years.

Sending ''obscene messages'' to fiancee cannot be called as an insult to her modesty, said a sessions court in Mumbai. The observation came when the court was hearing the 11-year-old case of rape. The court acquitted the accused man of rape charges saying the woman blindly believed that they would marry. She allowed the man for sex. ''This isn't a case of rape,'' said the court.

Mumbai: Sessions Court Convicts Nine Persons for Murdering Man in 2015

A sessions court in Mumbai on August 20 found nine people guilty of murdering a man in 2015, and awarded life imprisonment. Reportedly, the 30-year-old victim Anil Pandey's dog had bitten one of the accused, which led to a heated argument. A day after this incident, the culprits had arrived at Anil's house and killed him, the victim's wife Priya informed the court during the trial.
