In Palghar, a 15-year-old minor girl with special needs was found pregnant in Maharashtra region. As per sources, the girl with intellectual disabilities, was allegedly raped and assaulted, following which a case has been registered and an investigation started. Police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against an unidentified person

Delhi police arrested eight women and four men from Kasturba Nagar area, on February 1. As per police, a mother of 3-year-old was beaten and paraded with blackened face. She was also sexually assaulted on January 26. Notably, in November 2021, a 16-year-old committed suicide after being rejected by the victim, also his neighbour. The family of the teen blamed the victim and assaulted her as "revenge attack".

The Supreme court on November 18, set aside Bombay High Court's order that required a person to have “skin-to-skin contact” to be considered sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Furthermore, the apex court said, the most important thing in convicting sexual offenders under POCSO is "sexual intent". The order came after a case when a child was groped with her clothes on, reports.

Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police, Praveer Kumar Thakur has been suspended from his post for allegedly sexually abusing a woman head constable and passing sexist remarks to female co-workers.
