Pak Govt Calls Former PM Imran Khan ‘Traitor’, Warns Of Possible Attack
The ruling coalition government of Pakistan, called Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan a “traitor”, and warned him against attacking Islamabad. PM Shehbaz Sharif also asked Punjab and Pakhtunkhwa to not become a “tool” in paving way for chaos in the country. This has come after Imran Khan called for the “Haqeeqi Azadi March” with his party workers, considering it as “Jehad” for the country. However, Khan hasn’t revealed the date yet.

Pakistan Military Chopper Crashes In Balochistan; All 6 Soldiers Onboard Dead
A Pakistan military helicopter crashed in the Balochistan province, killing all six soldiers on board. Of the six deceased, two were the helicopter’s pilots. The exact reason for the crash is yet to ascertained. Former federal minister Hussain Chaudhry expressed his condolences, and said that helicopter travel has become too dangerous, due to a high number of reported crashes. “RIP Bravehearts all were too young to die,” he tweeted.

Imran Khan Prepares For Power Show In Islamabad, Sends Warning To PM Shehbaz Sharif
Former Pakistan PM and Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan has stated that he is preparing for his upcoming political rally in Pakistan’s capital city of Islamabad. Ahead of his “power show”, he has also sent warnings to Pakistan government and PM Shehbaz Sharif. He further stated that the government cannot take actions against peaceful marchers. He also termed the rulers of Pakistan as “corrupt”.

China Despatches 2 Military Cargo Aircrafts To Provide Aid To Flood-Hit Pakistan
Coming to Pakistan’s aid amid the grim flood situation across the country, China has despatched two large military cargo aircrafts to deliver supplies. The aircrafts left from Southwest China’s Sichuan, and are capable of carrying over 60 tonnes of cargo. The aircraft is scheduled to deliver 3,000 tents and other aid to Pakistan. Pakistan Incurred $10 Bn Loss Due To Floods, Says FM Miftah Ismail
Pakistan’s Finance Minister Miftah Ismail stated that the country has incurred a loss of at least USD 10 billion due to unprecedented flash floods. The loss has been inflicted on various sectors of the country’s economy. The figure quoted by Ismail is just an estimation, and after the assessments the amount is expected to escalate. Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif has called for a Mukti-party meeting to discuss course of action.

Protests Break Out In Pakistan’s Rawalpindi Against Inflated Electricity Bills
Protests broke out in several places of Pakistan’s Rawalpindi, against inflated electricity bills, on August 24. According to the local media, the protestors blocked GT road and Marrir Chowk. The protestors were seen burning electricity bills out of anger, and demanded the government to abolish all taxes of electricity. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Shariff had said that efforts are being put to solve the ongoing energy crisis in the country.

Pakistan Seeks 6-Year LNG Supply Contract From International Companies Amid Energy Crisis
Pakistan has issued a two-part tender, seeking for a six-year Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) supply contract from international companies. Pakistan's energy crisis is expected to become "severe" in the coming months, with a possible shortage of LNG, which is required in electricity, fuel and household consumption. As of now, Pakistan is seeking to purchase 72 LNG cargoes in six years, which means 1,40,000m3 of LNG every month.

Poliovirus Detected In 7 Pakistani Cities; Cases Expected To Surge
Poliovirus has been detected in several provinces across seven cities in Pakistan, confirmed Federal authorities on August 2. The confirmation has reportedly been given after carrying out tests on environmental samples collected from various cities. Reportedly, some of the samples were collected from sewage streams. In 2022, Pakistan detected its first case of Polio on April 22, and now, the cases are expected to surge.

Boat Carrying Over 100 Wedding Guests Capsized In Indus River, 23 Dead: Pakistan
A boat carrying over 100 wedding guests capsized in the Indus river, in Pakistan's Rahim Yar Khan city. About 26 persons have gone missing, and 23 have been confirmed dead. The government stated that when the boat overturned, divers rescued around 90 persons. Also, the statement mentioned that most of the passengers were children and women. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep condolence to the deceased.

Imran Khan's Azadi March Reaches Islamabad, Gives Govt 6 Days Time To Announce Polls: Pakistan
Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan's Azadi march reached the capital city of Islamabad, on May 26. Imran Khan addressed the march, and warned the central government. He said that if the election dates are not announced within six days, he will return to Islamabad. The Pakistani Army was deployed in Islamabad, to prevent the march from reaching Supreme Court and Prime Minister's residence.
