India Signs MoU With Bangladesh To Strengthen Inter-Governmental Railway Co-Op

India and Bangladesh signed an MoU to deepen the inter-governmental railway co-operation between both the nations. Earlier on June 1, Minister of Railways of India and Bangladesh Railway Minister held a meeting to achieve a similar motive. India has also agreed to train Bangladesh Railway employees. This is has been made possible with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit to India.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, while addressing Hyderabad house, expressed her willingness towards resolving the Teesta water-sharing issue soon. She then stated that India is Bangladesh’s most important and closest neighbour. The Teesta water-sharing issue can be traced back to 2011, when both the nations signed an agreement to share surface waters at the Farakka Barrage near their mutual border.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina To Arrive At India For 4-Day Visit

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to arrive at India for a four-day visit, on September 5. The leaders are expected to conduct talks related to upgrading defence cooperation, regional connectivity initiatives and establishing stability in South Asia. She is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. She will also hold bilateral talks with PM Modi.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina To Begin India Tour

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina is all set to visit India, on September 5.  During the three-day India visit, Sheikh Hasina will meet top dignitaries of the Indian Government and PM Narendra Modi. The meeting will emphasise bilateral talks to strengthen the relationship between India-Bangladesh. Defence security and maritime security will be the top agendas of the visit. In addition, Rohingya refugees will also be a major discussion held.

In the wake of strengthening political relationship, Bangladesh PM, Sheikh Hasina gifted 300 kilograms of Haribanga mangoes to Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb. Announcing the development, Bangladesh's assistant High commissioner in Agartala said, ''The CM cordially thanked the PM for the gift.'' Earlier, PM Hasina had sent mangoes to PM Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind followed by WB CM Mamta Banerjee.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has sent a gift of 2,600 kilograms of Mangoes to Indian PM Narendra Modi and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on July 4. Reportedly, Hasina has also planned to send mangoes to other CMs of the northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura. However, it is being seen as a diplomatic move amid the growing disquiet in Bangladesh since India halted the vaccine export.

2800 Kg 'Hilsa' Fish Smuggled From Bangladesh During Pandemic

BSF has confiscated around 2,800 kg of banned 'Hilsa' worth Rs 75 lakh from the Indo-Bangla border in the last 7 months. Hilsa, from river Padma, is sold at Rs 2500-3000/kg in the black market. BSF stated, smugglers infiltrate through riverine borders of Malda and Murshidabad at night. Bangladesh put a ban on its export eight years ago, known as 'Hilsa Diplomacy', amid sharing-dispute over Teesta river with West Bengal.
