The state government of Meghalaya has allotted 10 acres of land to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The allotment letter of the 10 acres of land in Shillong Township has been handed over on September 8. The land will reportedly be used to set up a permanent base. With this, CRPF personnel posted at several temporary camps, will be shifted to the newly allotted permanent camp.
Vehicle-borne attackers hurled two petrol bombs at the residence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma of Meghalaya on August 15 at 10:15 pm in Shillong. The miscreants threw the first bomb at the front of the house and the second from the backside. Meanwhile, no injuries were recorded, the police confirmed. Besides, Shillong is under curfew due to unusual practices of vandalism and arson.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under PM Modi's vision of combating global warming and climate change, launched "Assam Rifles Gree Sohra Plantation Drive" in Shillong upon his two-day visit to the northeastern regions. "In the next 3 years, we plan to plant 1 million plants in this area and to develop a forest of 1,000 hectares at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore," he said.

After the Indian Army, the Border Security Force’s Shillong unit has been planning to train two Indian dog breeds -Rajapalayam and Mudhol - for patrolling activities. Currently trained on a trial basis for one year, the dogs will be inducted to the forces for border patrolling in the unit. A BSF veterinarian said that if the trials were successful, other Indian dog breeds would be trained as military dogs.
