Shooter Konica Layak Dies By Suicide; Was Gifted Rifle By Sonu Sood

In a shocking incident, an aspiring shooter Konica Layak allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room in Kolkata. Reportedly, she was training herself with the former Olympian and Arjuna Award winner Joydeep Karmakar. Karmakar said Layak was about to ''get married soon''. ''I don't really know what forced her to take this step,'' he added. Notably, Sonu Sood had financially helped Layak by gifting a brand new rifle.

India's Avani Lekhara Wins Gold In Women's 10m Shooting In Tokyo

Avani Lekhara has won the first gold for India in the women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics on August 30. The 19-year-old Lekhara defeated China's Cuiping Zhang while Ukraine's Iryna Shchetnik grabbed a bronze medal. On her impressive win, PM Narendra Modi said, ''Congratulations on winning a hard-earned and well-deserved Gold...This is truly a special moment for Indian sports.''

Haryana Govt Impose Ban On Punjabi Film 'Shooter'

The Haryana government imposed a ban on the Punjabi film namely ''Shooter'' till further order on August 20. Reportedly, the government banned the film as it depicts violent content and the dark world of crime which is likely to create a bad impact on the school and college-going students. Allowing the film in the state may influence the young minds to promote gangster and gun culture, stated the order.

Forest Official's Team Kills 'Maneater' Leopard In Uttarakhand

An eight-year-old leopard declared a ''maneater'', was shot down by a team of three shooters in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag on July 26. Reportedly, the leopard had dragged a toddler girl from her house yard on July 25, however, the body hasn't been found yet. According to shooter Joy Hukil, the leopard was killed during rescue efforts. Notably, 19 people and seven big cats have died so far in the state.
