Kerala Journalist Expresses Happiness As He Gets Bail After 28 Months In Jail
Kerala Journalist Siddique Kappan expressed happiness as he is finally out of jail after being arrested for over 28 months. On February 1, after two sureties of Rs 1 lakh, the special PMLA Court granted bail to Kappan. He walked out of the Lucknow District Jail on the morning of February 2. "I want to thank the media for supporting me," said Siddique, who was arrested in 2020.

Kerala Journalist Siddique Walks Out Of Lucknow Jail
Kerala Journalist Siddique Kappan walked out of jail, on February 2. As per sources, the Special PMLA Court in Lucknow granted him bail after bond sureties worth Rs 1 lakh each, were submitted at the court. Kappan was released from jail around 9:15 am, Jailor of Lucknow District Jail. Notably, Siddique and three other journalists were arrested for instigating violence in Hathras Rape Case, in 2020.

Journalist Siddique Kappan To Remain In Jail Amid ED Probing
Even after the bail approval from the Supreme Court, Kerala-based journalist Siddique Kappan, will continue to remain in a jail. On September 13, sources in prison department here confirmed that a case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate against him is still pending, therefor his release has been halted. The development came hours after the release order of Kappan was issued on September 12.

Apex Court Grants Bail To Journalist Siddique Kappan
The Supreme Court granted bail to journalist Siddique Kappan, on September 9. The journalist who was jailed for over two years under the UAPA by UP Police, will finally be out of jail after three days of trial. Furthermore, CJI UU Lalit led Apex Court bench granted bail on conditions like, Kappan cannot leave India and need to appear before local police, and stay away from political activities.

Hathras Conspiracy Case: SC Seeks UP Govt’s Response In Journalist Kappan’s Bail Plea
Upon receiving a bail plea from journalist Siddique Kappan, the Supreme Court of India has issued notice to the state government of Uttar Pradesh, seeking response. The court has posted the matter for hearing on September 9, and has asked for a response to be submitted by September 5. Kappan has been arrested in the Hathras conspiracy cases, as the police submitted that he was attempting to “disturb the peace”.

Journalist Siddique Kappan Granted Interim Bail By SC
Kerala based journalist Siddique Kappan has been granted a five-day interim bail by Supreme Court to visit his infirm mother. The court instructed Kappan to not interact with media except family, close relatives and doctors.
