Indian Army, China's PLA Set Up Sixth Hotline To Enhance Peace

A hotline was instituted between the Indian Army in Kongara La, North Sikkim, and the People's Liberation Army of China at Khamba Dzong in Tibetan Autonomous Region after the positive outcome from the meeting. The announcement was made on August 1. "The hotline would further the spirit of trust and cordial relations along the borders," the Indian Army said. This marks the sixth hotline between the two countries.

Two Arrested For Trafficking 42 Child In Sikkim: Assam CM

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that Assam's Chirang police rescued 42 children from Sikkim who were trafficked from the state. Reportedly, two people have been arrested for the crime who lured each child's parents promising a good education but they sold the children as domestic helpers. Moreover, it was also found that they trafficked 80 children so far from the state and a few were sent to Dubai.

5.4 Magnitude Sikkim Earthquake Jolts Parts Of Bengal, Bihar, Assam

A 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted the Sikkim-Nepal border on April 5 night. While the tremors were felt at several parts of West Bengal, Assam, and Bihar, the National Center for Seismology stated of no aftershocks as the magnitude was below 6. Reportedly, the earthquake occurred at 8:49PM, having epicenter at 25-km east-southeast of Gangtok with a depth of 10 Km. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

CSIR Scientists Help Sikkim Farmers To Grow Vitamin D Rich Mushroom

To boost the income of Sikkim farmers, scientists at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have begun a project that cultivates 'Shiitake' - an enhanced variety of Mushroom. Reportedly, Shiitake is sold at Rs 3000/kg in the Delhi markets since it has a "very good smoky and meaty flavour". Reportedly, three food processing cluster centres are being set up with the help of MSME Ministry.

Indian, Chinese Soldiers Engage In Physical Brawl At Naku La In Sikkim
