Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair has been sent to a 14-day judicial custody, on July 14. Zubair was arrested after two cases were registered against him on July 4. Zubair's remarks on Hindu gods and goddesses sparked a rage in 2018. He called three Hindu seers "hate mongers", due to which a case was registered in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur. Reportedly, when Zubair was produced in the court, security was tightened.

Azam Khan, a senior Samajwadi Party politician, was discharged from the Sitapur prison in Uttar Pradesh on May 20. He had been in prison for the previous 27 months on many charges, involving land grabbing. On May 19, the Supreme Court granted him temporary release. His release from prison was made possible by the issuance of temporary bail. 

A monkey intercepted an elderly man's bag comprising Rs 4 lakh outside Vikas Bhawan Registry Office in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district. The animal fled with the bag and climbed on a tree, where it had tossed away approximately Rs 10 to 12 thousand. However, it left the bag after a while. Immediately, the crowd beneath had started collecting the money. As per reports, the victim has filed a police case.
