Delhi Reports 5th Case Of Monkeypox In 22-Year-Old Woman
A fifth case of Monkeypox virus has been reported in Delhi, informed Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical Director at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan hospital, on August 13. He thena stated that it is a 22-year-old woman. Reportedly, she is undergoing treatment. He further stated that the patient has no travel history, but had traveled over a month ago. Central government has strengthened vigilance, especially at country's borders.

Nigerian Tests Positive For Monkeypox Virus In Delhi, Taking National Tally To 8
Delhi has reported its third case of Monkeypox virus in a Nigerian national, on August 2. Another Nigerian, about 35-years-old, tested positive for Monkeypox virus in Delhi, on August 1. India recorded its first death due to Monkeypox on July 30. With this, India is on an alert, and the central government has formed a task force to monitor the situation and provide guidance.

EU Drug Control Agency Suggests Authorizing Use Of Smallpox Vaccine To Treat Monkeypox
The use of a smallpox vaccination to treat monkeypox was suggested for authorization on July 22 by the European Union's (EU) drug authority. Imvanex, a smallpox vaccine created by the Danish pharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic, has been authorized in the EU since 2013 for the purpose of preventing smallpox. Due to smallpox and monkeypox viruses' similarities, it was also thought to be a viable vaccination for monkeypox.

95% Monkeypox Cases Transmitted Through Sexual Activities: Study
A research paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine claimed that 95% of the Monkeypox cases have spread due to sexual activities. The study was done on 528 patients across 16 countries. The paper also claimed that new clinical signs such as single genital lesions were noted. As of July 22, Monkeypox virus has been detected across 71 countries, and 15,400 cases have been reported.

Russia Reports First Case Of Monkeypox Virus; Patient Recently Returned From Europe
Russia has officially detected its first of Monkeypox Virus, on July 12. Reportedly, the patient is a young male, who recently returned from Europe. Reportedly, the patient showed mild symptoms, which included a rash, and is now isolated. WHO in the last week of June, stated that Monkeypox outbreak is not a global health concern currently, however, to control further spread of the virus "intense response efforts" must be taken.

Monkeypox: WHO Calls For 'Urgent Action', Says 'Cases Tripled In 2 Weeks'
WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Henri Kluge called for an "urgent action" against the Monkeypox outbreak, stating that cases have tripled in over past two weeks. He urged the governments to "scale up efforts to prevent Monkeypox from establishing itself". Reportedly, 31 countries have detected the Monkeypox virus so far. Meanwhile, Europe remains at the centre, sharing the highest risk.

Monkeypox: France, Germany & Belgium Report First Cases, Spain Reports 21 Cases
Monkeypox has been detected in France, Belgium and Germany, on May 20. France has reported its first case, whereas Belgium reported two cases in two different cities. Recently, Canada, US, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Sweden reported their first cases of the Monkeypox virus. Spain's active Monkeypox caseload stands at 21.
