The customs officials at the Mumbai Airport seized 980 grams of cocaine, estimated to be valued at Rs 9.8 crore from a passenger on October 3. Reportedly, the passenger arrived in Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-610 from Addis Ababa. According to the officials, the contraband was carried in the undergarments of the passenger. The accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
Officials of the District Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has arrested a man from Bangalore's Central railway station, who was allegedly carrying 16 kg heroin, packed in two 8 kg pouches. Reportedly, the drugs are worth Rs 112 crore in the international market, and the accused carried them in a false cavity in his suitcase. Shockingly, DRI stated that the man evaded checking and arrived at Bangalore airport from Ethiopia.

Officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Assam police, in a joint operation, seized narcotic drugs worth Rs 15 crore, in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, on August 2. The officials acting on a tip off, arrested three persons at a checkpoint. The accused, who were transporting the drugs in a Bolero, reportedly possessed one of the purest forms of heroin and other drugs.
Assam police seized contraband drugs worth Rs 5-8 crore and arrested four members from an international drug network, on June 30. Upon receiving secret information, the police carried out an operation in Gorchuk area, where a dumper truck was intercepted. The police then recovered over one lakh Yaba tablets from the dumper truck, which was supposed to be delivered to Bangladesh. Further investigation underway.
In Assam's Jorhat district, two smugglers have been arrested for the possession of a rhino horn which weighed about 1.158 kg. Reportedly, the duo were arrested in an operation, while they were trying to sell the rhino horn. Additional SP Mrinmoy Goswami said that the rhino horn stands at a market value of Rs 1.50 crore. The accused have been identified as Rajen Bauri and Azizul Rahman.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad has recovered Rs 450 crores worth of heroin from the Pipavav port in Gujarat's Amreli. The drug peddlers had allegedly soaked threads in a solution that contained heroin and then dried them. They were later made into bales and stuffed in bags for export. " Examination and seizure proceedings by the DRI under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 are underway," read a DRI release.
The BSF troops in Meghalaya seized illegal liquor bottles from the international border of West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills, on April 17. The BSF troops seized nearly 1,200 liquor bottles, being smuggled illegally, confirmed Meghalaya Frontier BSF Headquarters. In Rajasthan's Jaipur region, a man was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle in one-kilogram gold, confirmed Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, on April 1. As per PTI, the raid was conducted at the Jaipur Railway Station after receiving a tip-off. The DRI recovered six gold biscuits worth Rs 52 lakh, which was smuggled into India from Myanmar. The accused was arrested and presented before a court, which imprisoned him.

A van driver was beaten up by cow vigilantes in suspicion of cattle smuggling in Mathura district of UP. A Muslim man was held in captive and assaulted by the mob, as per reports. A video has gone viral of the man getting beaten and verbally abused. SP M.P. Singh told that the van was heading towards Sikandra Rao in Hathras, which was then stopped by the local residents.

The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested three persons with 18.980 kgs of marijuana, smuggled from Nepal on March 6. Agra's SP Shiv Ram Yadav informed that the accused have been arrested from Agra with one mobile and four roadways tickets. Reportedly, the market value of 18.980 kgs of marijuana is Rs 95 lakh. "The accused are under interrogation, further investigation is underway," said SP Yadav.
