TN Man Booked For Eating Dead Snake To Stay Safe Against COVID-19

In a bizarre incident, a 50-year-old man in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district has been booked for chewing a dead snake to stay safe against COVID-19. The man named Vadivelu can be seen, in a viral video, eating the snake and claiming that snakes generate immunity against coronavirus. According to police, Vadivelu was drunk at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, the forest department has slapped him with a Rs-7000 fine.

Delhi University Researchers Find 8 New Snake Species In Delhi

A five-year study conducted by Delhi University has revealed eight new snake species in the capital, taking the total up to 23. The species found include common bronze back tree snake, common trinket snake, common cat snake, barred wolf snake, common sand boa, saw-scaled viper and common and streaked kukri. The team conducted 376 field surveys in 11 districts recording the details in book 'Fauna of Delhi' maintained since 1997.
