Mumbai International Airport Switches To Green Energy

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has switched to green sources for its energy consumption needs. Notably, the airport has procured around 5% of the airport's electricity requirement through its onsite solar generation and the rest 95% from other green sources such as hydro and wind energy, said a statement by CSMIA. China To Build First Solar Power Plant In Space By 2028

China plans to launch the world's first solar-powered space station in 2028. The program is in its early phases. The solar space station will use solar energy to generate power and microwaves. They may be used to power moving satellites in orbit, as well as to direct energy beams to stationary places on Earth via wireless power transfer. It is a part of OMEGA (Orb-Shape Membrane Energy Gathering Array).

Lightyear Announces Launch Of World's First Production-Ready Solar Car

Later this year, a Dutch company will begin delivering the world's first production-ready solar vehicle to clients, offering months of charge-free driving in summer weather. Lightyear is producing vehicles with curved solar panels on the hood and roof. The automobile can travel for up to two months in rainy areas, based on an average commute of 35 kilometers per day. It might last up to seven months in sunny countries.

Joe Biden Wants Solar Energy To Account For 45% Of US Electricity Production By 2050

Joe Biden Strives 50% Electricity Production Through Solar By 2050

As part of its climate change plan, Biden's administration said on September 8 that the US should strive to generate roughly 50% of its electricity from solar energy by 2050. According to Department-of-Energy research, solar power is expected to increase from its present level of barely 3% to as much as 40% by 2035 and 45% by 2050. However, it would take 4-times the solar capacity to achieve the goal.

First Solar To Set Up Million Dollar Solar Manufacturing Facility In India

American solar panels manufacturer First Solar Inc. aims to set up a fully vertically integrated photovoltaic (PV) thin-film solar module manufacturing facility in India and is willing to infuse $684 million in the project. On approval from the Indian government, the company is expected to begin its operations in mid-2023. "India is an attractive market for First Solar," said Chief Executive Officer Mark Widmar.

Goa Professor Generates Own Electricity; Sells It To Government

Madhusudhan Joshi, a 58-year-old professor at the Goa College of Pharmacy not only uses hybrid solar energy systems at his house but also sells electricity to govt and earns Rs 350 annually. Overstating his service, Joshi said when the cyclon Tauktae hit the West coast he helped his neighbors by charging their phones for three days. The system cost around Rs 5,80,000.

Telangana: Adani Green To Acquire Sterling & Wilson's Solar Plant

Adani Green Energy Limited is all set to acquire 75-megawatt operating Solar Projects from Sterling and Wilson's Private Limited. The company will take over a 100% stake in the plants in Telangana through a deal worth Rs 446 crore. Recently, the group had bought a 50MW solar project from SkyPower Global. Reportedly, the acquisition will lead the AGEL to a renewable capacity of 3,470 MW.

While addressing the virtual Climate Ambition Summit on December 12, PM Narendra Modi said that India would exceed the target of the Paris Agreement. PM Modi stated, "...I make a solemn pledge today. Centennial India will not only meet its own targets but will also exceed your expectations".
