For First Time, Star Factory Identified In 'Heart Of Milky Way'

Astronomers have reconstructed the development of star formation at Milky Way's core for the first time, discovering star birth erupted from the galaxy's centre. The studies also revealed over millions of years, the bulk of newborn stars in compact galactic centre drifted further away after developing with only tenuous bonds. Astronomers used HAWK-I infrared camera on the Very Large Telescope in Chile to examine a region of 64,000 square… read-more

Using Oxygen & Magnets, Astronauts In Space May Be Able To Breathe More Easily: Study

An international team of scientists has suggested utilizing magnetism to create oxygen for astronauts in space. The work reveals for the first time in microgravity that gas bubbles can be "attracted to" and "repelled from" a simple neodymium magnet by immersing them in various types of aqueous solution. The findings might pave the way for scientists and engineers working on oxygen systems, and other space research requiring liquid-to-gas… read-more

China To Build First Solar Power Plant In Space By 2028

China plans to launch the world's first solar-powered space station in 2028. The program is in its early phases. The solar space station will use solar energy to generate power and microwaves. They may be used to power moving satellites in orbit, as well as to direct energy beams to stationary places on Earth via wireless power transfer. It is a part of OMEGA (Orb-Shape Membrane Energy Gathering Array).
