Indian Railways Announces 179 Special Trains Amid Festival Rush
Amid festivities in India, the Indian Railways left no stone unturned in providing convenience to passengers, by adding additional trains for convenience. On October 5, the Indian Railways announced 2,269 trips of 179 pairs of special trains. The decision will be taken in the view of extra rush amid Navratri, Durga Puja, so that loved ones can reunite and celebrate festivals. The special trains will be run till Chhath Puja.

Central Railways To Run Special Trains Amid Holi Rush
Indian Railways announced to run 22 Holi special trains. The additional trains will run tri-weekly to avoid rush of passengers in between Maharashtra-Uttar Pradesh. These trains will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday at 2:15 pm from Mumbai and will teach at Ballia at 1:45 am on third day. Furthermore, the special trains will begin from March 7 and run till March 30.

Railway Sees 87% Dip In Passenger Revenue, Not Definite Over Normalcy
Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav stated that the Indian Railways has seen an 87% drop in passenger revenue due to the pandemic. He also said, "It is not possible to give a definite date for the resumption of normal train services." Yadav added that while normal trains are suspended, 1,089 special trains are running on 30-40% occupancy. However, he hoped that the deficit in passenger revenue will be bridged by the freight revenue.

Ahead Of Festivals, Railways To Run 196 Pairs of Special Trains From Oct 20
The Indian Railways has decided to operate 196 pairs of special trains ahead of the festive season. Reportedly, the 392 special trains will be operational between October 20 to November 30. Besides, the railways has also decided to keep the fare same as that of the other special trains. The Railway Ministry has said that the schedule of these trains will be announced by the Zonal Railways.
