Fencer Bhavani Devi Gets Rs 8.16 Lakh From Sports Ministry For Training

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports approved the monetary aid of Rs 8.16 lakh for India's first fencer Bhavani Devi who represent the country at the Olympics. The amount will be used to facilitate her training for the competitions. Reportedly, Bhavani is set to compete in four international competitions in 2022. She will next be seen competing at the International Fencing Federation (FIE) World Cup in January.

Battling with a chronic kidney disease, former hockey Olympian Mohinder Pal Singh was given a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh under Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons. Guwahati edition Khelo India U-21 Games star player, Hockey-striker Harpreet Singh is reportedly working 15 hours a day as a labourer for a livelihood. Harpreet, who has played 11 nationals from Chandigarh is amused for not being selected to represent the nation. The player gets only two hours each day for hockey practice. South Kashmir To Receive a New Sports Complex Worth Rs 16 Crores

The fund has been released for the Construction of a new sports complex in South Kashmir's Bijbehara town of Anantnag district. 8 Khelo India State Centre Of Excellence to Get Rs 95 Crore for Advancement

Sports Ministry on September 16 has allocated Rs 95.19 crore to upgrade eight Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE). Eight states with KISCE are: Odisha, Mizoram, Telangana, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerela. The aim of the decision is to identify and groom future Olympic medalists. A total of 14 sports will be prioritized and each state or UT will be given support for development of 3 sports.
