J&K Govt Waives Off Electricity Bills, Bringing Relief To Households
As a relief to the consumers, the government of Jammu and Kashmir announced an amnesty scheme for domestic electricity consumers. According to the scheme, the bills which are not paid, will be waived off, including the penalty. The waiver also applies for commercial houses, institutions, factories and business unit. This has come despite the J&K government running in a revenue deficit.

Youth Arrested For Raping A Minor In Srinagar, Investigation Underway
A person has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl here, police said on September 2. The accused was absconding after committing the crime four days ago and identified Aijaz Ahmad was arrested for raping a minor girl in Srinagar. The police confirmed the same through a Twitter post. Furthermore, a case has been registered under the IPC sections and POCSO Act and an investigation is underway.

Terrorists Hurl Grenade In J&K’s Srinagar; Civilians Injured
In a grenade blast in J&K’s Srinagar, several civilians have been injured on August 22. Reportedly, the incident occurred at Nishat area when the bomb was hurled, causing a low intensity blast. Reportedly, the injured are being treated, and a search to nab the accused are underway. Meanwhile, IEDs weighing 10-12 kgs have been recovered from Pulwama district, evading a major blast.

Jammu-Srinagar Highway Remains Blocked Due To Shooting Stones
In J&K's Ramban, the Jammu-Srinagar highway continues to remain blocked since July 20, due to shooting stones. Following incessant rains, which led to shooting stones, the 270 km highway has been blocked. After announcing about the road blockage, Deputy Commissioner of Ramban Massrat ul Islam said that "it is raining heavily in Ramban". Meanwhile, NHAI has dispatched officials to help clear the stretch.

Transgender Welfare Board To Soon Be Constituted At J&K
A transgender welfare board will soon be constituted in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The body will aim at protecting the rights and interests of the transgender community. An official stated that the board will consists of 13 members, and will be headed by Chief Secretary. Notably, as per the 2011 census, the total transgender population stands at 4,137.

Srinagar Attack: CCTV Footages Inspected To Identify Attackers
In J&K's Srinagar, investigation is underway for the attack of three-member patrol in Lalbazar, on July 13. The attack which took place near a school, killed an officer and left two others injured. Reportedly, the investigators are using the CCTV footages to identify the accused. Furthermore, Former CMs Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were among those who condemned the attack.

Cloudburst Incident In Amarnath Yatra Leaves 15 Dead & 65 Injured; Foot Yatra Suspended Temporarily
Near the holy shrine of Amarnath, at least 15 people died in the cloudburst incident, on July 8, reported Indian Army. Following the incident, foot yatra has temporarily been suspended. Meanwhile, over 65 persons have been injured in the cloudburst. Indian Army's Mi-17 choppers were deployed from Srinagar to Amarnath cave site, to join the rescue operations.

Terror Funding Case: NIA Conducts Raids At Multiple Locations In J&K's Baramulla
In an ongoing terror funding case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at multiple locations in J&K's Baramulla district, on June 15. According to NIA, the raids were conducted at places where suspects are said to have misused the money generated from cross-LOC trade for fomenting terrorism in J&K. Reportedly, the premises of the suspects were searched with the help of Kashmir police and CRPF officials.
