Rahul Gandhi Nominated To Standing Committee For Defense In Parliament

After a comeback in the Lok Sabha, the opposition has nominated former Congress President Rahul Gandhi in the parliamentary standing committee defence of the opposition. Congress MP Amar Singh too has been nominated to the committee, according to a Lok Sabha bulletin. This is the comeback of Rahul Gandhi, as before being disqualified in March, Mr Gandhi was a member of the parliamentary panel on defence.

Congress To Hold Discussion Over Controversial UCC Law

Amid the ongoing UCC law controversy, the Indian National Congress (INC) Parliamentary group is scheduled to hold a crucial meeting, on July 1. The scheduled meeting will be held at Janpath Marg, discussing the controversial Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Law, expected to be introduced in the upcoming Monsoon Parliament Session. The meeting came ahead of the Parliament Standing Committee meeting scheduled to be held on July 3.

Govt Agrees To Send Prohibition Of Child Marriage Bill To Standing Committee

The government agreed to send the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2021 to the Standing committee on December 21. The decision came after the constant demand of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, said Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. The bill demands to increase the marriage of women to 21 from 18 years. Reportedly, Minister for Woman and Child Development Smriti Irani introduced the bill in the house.

Standing Committee To Analyse Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill

The Chairman of Rajya Sabha has forwarded the 'Assisted Reproductive Technology Regulation Bill 2020' to a standing committee. The bill aims to setup a national board that decides on standards and regulations for clinics and laboratories, which provide assisted reproductive treatments.
