Manipur Assembly Elections Postponed; EC Issues Revised Schedule
Election Commission of India on February 10, revised election dates for the two-phased Manipur Assembly election. According to the EC, the first phase of the polls has been postponed from February 27 to 28. The second phase polls has been postponed from March 3 to 5. The decision was taken after EC took inputs from stake holders, political leaders to understand the ground situation in the State.

MP Govt Shuts Schools For Classes 1-12 Amid COVID-19 Surge
In view of the COVID-19 surge, the Madhya Pradesh Government announced to close classes for 1-12, from January 15 to 31. The State CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan held a review meeting with the crisis management group on January 14. In addition, the BJP led MP Government also banned religious and political rallies until further notice. However, Makar Sankranti snan (bath) was exempted from the imposed ban.

Odisha Raises Upper Age Limit To Apply For State Govt Jobs From 32 to 38 Years
The Odisha government on January 11, raised the upper age limit from 32 to 38 years for recruitment into state government jobs. "For SC/ST/SEBC and women, the age limit is 43 years, for General persons with disabilities is 48 years and for SC/ST/SEBC PwD candidates is 53 years," the government said. The relaxation in the upper age limits will be made during the calendar year i.e. 2021, 2022, and 2023.

IMA Demands Limited Working Hours For COVID-19 Doctors
Indian Medical Association demanded limited working hours for doctors amid the worsening "COVID-19" situation. Centre Releases Rs 8,453.92 Crore For States To 'Strengthen' Health System
The Central Government on November 13, released Rs 8,453.92 crores to 19 states as a grant to strengthen their health systems. The grant was released by the department of expenditure as per the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission, said the finance ministry. Moreover, grants for the remaining nine states will also be released once the union ministry receives their proposal, according to sources.

Centre Plans To File Writ Petition Against SC Under SEBCs Case
The Supreme Court on July 1 dismissed the Centre's plea seeking to review SC's previous ruling on May 5, which limits the identification of SEBCs to centres, not the states for granting quotas in jobs & education. However, the bench stated, "We do not find any sufficient ground to entertain this review petition." The decision has left the Centre with their last resort to move a curative writ petition.

SC Urges Centre, States To Consider Lockdown To Break COVID Chain
The Supreme Court has urged the Centre and state governments to consider imposing a lockdown due to a massive increase in COVID-19 cases. The court asked the Centre to formulate a national policy within two weeks so that none are denied hospitalization in any state due to lack of residential proof. It also urged the governments to review the COVID-19 measures; availability of oxygen, vaccines, essential drugs and their pricing.
