100s Of Gold Coins Worth $1.2 Million Discovered In Walls Of French Chateau

At an auction on September 29, hundreds of gold coins discovered in walls of an isolated French chateau brought more than one million euros ($1.2 million). When stonemasons were renovating a house in Quimper in western Brittany, they unearthed 239 gold coins made before the French Revolution. The family retained four coins as souvenirs and auctioned the rest. For an extraordinarily rare double Louis d'Or, bidding started at 8,000 euros.
