Typhoon Hinnamnor: 20,000 Homes Left Without Power In South Korea

Typhoon Hinnamnor has hit southern regions of South Korea, unleashing violent winds and rains on September 6. In wake of which, thousands are evacuated to safety. The typhoon which is considered to be one of the deadliest in a few years, destroyed trees and roads, leaving as many as 20,000 homes without power. Government has put the nation on alert, and has issued warnings on floods, landslides and tidal waves.

2 Dead, Several Injured In Cooch Behar Storm

At least two persons have died and several others have been injured during the storm in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. Rabindra Nath Ghosh of the Cooch Behar municipality noted that there have been two deaths in the storm in the Moamari Gram Panchayat. He also specified that 50 people have sustained injuries. In other news, 20 deaths have been reported from the recent storm in Assam.

Garbage Can From South Carolina Ends Up In Coast Of Ireland; Swept Away In Storm

Officials in South Carolina's Myrtle Beach, said that a garbage can that was supposed to be on one of their beaches wound up on the coast of Ireland. Officials in Myrtle Beach believed it carted away in a storm. A Mayo County homeowner emailed them the images of the bin, which was covered in shells and sand. Officials wrote to the Irish resident, "Please recycle our wayward traveling can".

Hurricane Ida In US Claims One Life; Leaves City Without Electricity

Hurricane Ida storm struck the US city of New Orleans on August 29 with a wind speed of 240km/h and left the city without electricity, claiming one life in Baton Rouge. Terming the Ida ''life-threatening'', President Joe Biden released extra funds and said it would take over a week to restore the supplies. Besides, the US National Weather Service advised, ''Go to a small room with no windows.''

IMD Puts Kerala's 5 Districts On Red Alert As Thunderstorms Continue

The IMD has issued a red alert in five northern districts of Kerala - Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The development came after continuous strong winds resulted in cracks on the Valiyathura, the oldest sea bridge. NDRF Deploys 24 Teams Along S-W Coast Ahead Of Cyclone 'Tauktae'

The National Disaster Response Force on May 14 precautionary deployed 24 teams ahead of an anticipated cyclone Tauktae from the Arabian Sea. First cyclone of 2021, Tauktae is expected to landfall on May 15 with forecasts of heavy downpours across parts of the western coast for the next 4-5 days. According to India Meteorological Department, the cyclone will reach northwestwards of Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coasts by May 18.

Trophical Hurricane 'Sally' to Hit the U.S. Gulf Coast: NHC

The National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said that the tropical storm 'Sally' has become a category 2 hurricane bringing dangerous storms and high winds in the U.S. Gulf Coast after hitting Florida. The storm has destroyed the oil production in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. According to the NHC Miami, the hurricane will approach the north-central Gulf Coast on September 14 or 15.
