Bijnor Cane Farmers Fear Leopards As Man-Animal Conflicts Rise
Leopards that hide in the sugarcane fields of Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor have become a concern for the farmers. Reportedly, the leopards that prevented crop-destroying animals are now causing man-animal conflicts that rose to nine deaths in the last two years. Union Clears Rs 3,500 Crore Subsidy To Sugarcane Farmers For FY21
For the Financial Year 2020-21, the Union government has sanctioned Rs 3,500 crore subsidy to sugar factories for exporting 60 lakh tons of sugar. Moreover, the government said subsidy will be a part of outstanding bills of mills and will be directly transferred to 5 crore farmers' accounts. Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the move would ease the burden of farmers who are facing the brunt of the excess annual production.
