Woman Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Kidnapping Minor & Demanding Ransom: UP

A court in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for allegedly kidnapping a boy and demanding ransom from his family in 2016. According to Advocate Pawan Kumar Dubey, Brajesh Shukla, wife Shalini Shukla and Sujata Thapa were accused in the case. Thapa being a minor, was dealt with by Juvenile Justice Board. While Brajesh died when the case is under trial, Shalini has been convicted.

Bus Accident Kills 2, Leaves 9 Injured In Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur

In Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur region, two persons died and nine were severely injured, when a mini bus overturned and fell into a gorge. On June 28, the police confirmed the incident, happened near Varanasi-Lucknow NH. Moreover, the two deceased were identified as Rajendra Awasthi (55) and driver Omkar Nath Yadav (45). Deomani Dwivedi Urges CM Yogi To Rename Sultanpur

BJP MLA, Deomani Dwivedi on August 28 requested UP's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to rename Sultanpur as he represents Lambhua constituency there. However, he raised the same issue in 2018 at UP Assembly. He inked a letter to the CM to change Sultanpur's name to Kushbhawanpur or Kushnagri. In an interview, he said that Raghuvansh Mahakavyam's book also named earlier Sultanpur as Kushbhawanpur.
