Senior Congress Leader Sunil Jakhar Resigns From Party
Senior leader Sunil Jakhar resigned from Congress on May 14 days after receiving a show-cause notice for reportedly anti-party practices. The former Punjab Congress leader announced his resignation and expressed his "Dil ki Baat." In the run-up to the Punjab assembly elections, he was critical of the party leadership. The grand old party suffered a blow on the second day of the current 3-day Chintan Shivir in Udaipur.

INC Disciplinary Panel Recommends Suspension of Leaders; Jakhar, Thomas
The Indian National Congress (INC) Disciplinary Committee suggested suspending former Punjab Unit Chief Sunil Jakhar and Kerala leader KV Thomas from all posts for two years. The recommendations were due to the anti-party activities by the leaders, after a meeting held on April 26. As per PTI, the suggestions have been submitted to the interim president of Congress Sonia Gandhi, who would take the final call.

Navjot Singh To Be Next State President Of Congress: Punjab
The former Indian cricketer and minister of local government, tourism, and cultural affairs of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu will be appointed as the chief of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. This decision came ahead of the ongoing crisis in the party’s state unit. He will be replacing Sunil Jakhar. Sidhu has been offered to choose his team by the party's high command. The party will announce the result shortly.
