Delhi HC Takes Suo-Moto Seeks Report Of Mukherjee Nagar Fire Incident

The Delhi High Court (HC) took up a suo-moto cognizance regarding the Mukherjee Nagar fire incident at a coaching centre. On June 15, a massive fire broke out in a coaching centre building in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, leaving 60 students and one guard injured. A vacation bench of the Delhi court issued a notice to the Fire Tenders, asking them to do fire audit, and sought report in two weeks.

Jharkhand HC Summoned DGP Sinha, Orders To Submit Report Of Jharkhand Dumka Incident

The Jharkhand Court took a suo moto cognisance of the gruesome killing of a 16-year-old girl by her alleged stalker in Dumka, Jharkhand. The division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan summoned Jharkhand DGP Neeraj Sinha and ordered to submit incident details report.  Notably, a teenager was burnt alive, after she rejected the proposal of a youth named Shah Rukh, currently under police custody.

Former SC, HC Judges Write To CJI Ramana Against Protestor's House Demolition In UP

The former Supreme Court and High Court judges wrote to the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, asking for a suo-motu cognizance of the detention of protestors and demolition of their houses by the UP Government. Notably, after the recent protest against prophet remarks, the UP Civic Body demolished houses of many protestors, calling illegal encroachment. However, the judges condemned and demanded action and arrest of concerned officials.

Calcutta HC Takes Suo-Moto Case Over Birbhum Violence

The Calcutta HC registered a suo-moto case over recent Birbhum violent incident, on March 23. The HC will review the killing of eight people in Ramapuram, Birbhum, amid political controversy and alleged killing of TMC leader Bahadur Shaikh. Furthermore, the West Bengal Governor deplored a 3-page letter to CM Banerjee, suggesting it to be a political conspiracy behind the Birbhum Violence. Meanwhile HC Judge will review the matter at 2 pm.
