SC Orders On Firecracker Ban In Delhi's Neighbouring Rajasthan

Concerned about the rising pollution in Delhi, Mumbai and Haryana, the Supreme Court on November 7, said that its directives against the use of banned chemicals in firecrackers applied to all states and not just Delhi and its neighboring areas. The top court's clarification came during a hearing on an application seeking to direct Rajasthan to implement the court's order banning certian firecrackers and reducing air and noise pollution.

SC Orders Punjab & Haryana To Stop Stubble Burning Amid Pollution

The Supreme Court in its order has directed that the state governments of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to ensure that crop burning is stopped, for which a meeting will be convened tomorrow. It also added that the local Station House Officer (SHO) will be responsible for it under the overall supervision of the Chief Secretary. The decisiion after the Delhi AQI worsened.

AAP Leader Files Bail Plea In SC, Challenges ED Arrest: Delhi

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last month for his connection with the alleged Delhi Liquor Scam. The leader has now filed a petition in the apex court, challenging the decision of the Delhi High Court taken against him. The plea filing came after the Delhi High Court dismissed the plea of Sanjay Singh, challenging ED arrest.

ED Summons Arvind Kejriwal For Questioning In Delhi Excice Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued a summons notice to Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) President, in the 2021–2022 Delhi Excise Policy Scam.  As per the issued summons, Kejriwal has been asked to appear before the ED, for questioning on November 2. Earlier, the CBI questioned Kejriwal in the case, in which Manish Sisodia is the prime accused, and is in Tihar Jail, after bail denial.

Supreme Court Refuses Marriage Equality Rights To Same Sex In India

The Supreme Court, on October 17, refused to legalize same sex marriage for LGBTQ+ community in India. In the court hearing, the bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, said, in a 3-2 majority, the court said, cannot make laws and it is up to the government to give legal status to marriages between transgender people. However, the SC mentioned that unmarried people and queer couple can adopt.

SC Raises Delay In Adoption Process Issue, Hears Pleas

Terming child adoption a "human thing", the Supreme Court on Friday flagged the issue of "great delay" in the process and said several children are awaiting adoption in hope of a better life. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud-led bench heard pleas,  including one seeking to simplify the legal process for child adoption in India. He said the petitioners have said this process has virtually come to a standstill.
