The 41-member ASI team started their survey at the Gyanvapi mosque for a second day.  The team entered the premises and started their search to find the truth behind the claims of the Hindu groups, saying the mosque is built on Hindu temple land and there's findings of ancients, shivling. Notably, the survey started after the Supreme Court allowed the survey, and upheld the Allahabad High Court's decision.

The Varanasi High Court has extended the stay on the survey of Gyanvapi Mosque. Hearing a petition filed against the ASI survey ordered by a district court, the HC bench said that the stay on survey will be extended till July 27. Meanwhile, the Archeological officials said, they were not destroying anything at the mosque, but would have just conducted an inspection to find truth behind Hindu ancients presence claims.

The Varanasi Court allowed a "scientific survey" of the entire Gyanvapi mosque premises, except the 'wuzukhana' area which was sealed on the Supreme Court's directions, by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). As per the Economic Survey 2021-22, the groundwater in rural areas of 31 out of 38 districts of Bihar is affected by arsenic, fluoride, and iron contamination. ''A total of 4,742 rural wards in 14 districts situated along the Ganga are particularly affected by arsenic contamination," stated the report. Notably, fluoride contamination is reported in 11 districts and excess iron in nine Kosi basin districts of the state.
