PM Modi Launches Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 And AMRUT

PM Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 on October 1 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. However, he stated in his speech that SBM-U 2.0 will ensure clean and garbage-free cities and Mission AMRUT will work on increasing sewage and septic management. PM Modi further added  has that India collects one lakh tonnes of garbage every day.

Indore Declared As India's First 'Water Plus' City

Deemed as the cleanest city in India, Madhya Pradesh's Indore now gets the "water plus" tag under the Swachh Survekshan 2021 on August 11. As a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Survekshan survey ensures wastewater should be significantly treated before reusing. Commenting on the tag, Indore Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal said that, "30% of the city's sewage water was recycled and reused for several purposes."

5 Lakh Households Still Deprived Of Toilets In Karnataka

Karnataka government officials have said that about 5 lakh rural households in the state were still not benefitted by the Centre's Swachh Bharat Mission.
