PV Sindhu Eliminated From Malaysia Masters 2022 After Losing To Tai Tzu Ying In Quarterfinals

PV Sindhu was eliminated from the Malaysia Masters Super 500 tournament on July 8 after losing to Tai Tzu Ying in the quarterfinals. Seventh seed Sindhu fell short against the world no. 2 a week after getting outwitted by Chinese Taipei at the Malaysia Open. Sindhu suffered her 17th career defeat against the Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, who had beaten the Indian in all seven previous matches.

PV Sindhu was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open Super 750 on July 1 after losing to Tai Tzu Ying. Sindhu entered the contest after defeating Thailand's Phittayaporn Chaiwan in a thrilling comeback in the previous game. As Tzu Ying presently maintains a 16-5 head-to-head advantage over the Indian star, this was Sindhu's sixth consecutive loss against the former World No. 1.

Japanese Shuttler Akane Yamaguchi won Women's Singles title in BWF Championship, on December 19. She defeated Chinese player Tai Tzu Ying, and scored 14-21, 11-21 in a 39-minute match. This was the first time, Akane Yamaguchi won the title at the BWF Championship, which started on December 12. The BWF World Championship, held in Huelva, Spain, concluded on December 19.
