Taliban Warns Uzbekistan, Tajikistan; Demands Return Of Afghan Aircraft

Taliban government's acting Defense Minister Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid on January 11, asked Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to return the air force planes or face consequences. PM Modi To Address 21st SCO Session In Tajikistan On September 17

The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Sept 15 that PM Narendra Modi will virtually attend the 21st meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Tajikistan's Dushanbe. SCO will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. The meeting is to be chaired by Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon and India's External Affair Minister S Jaishankar. At the summit, leaders are invited to review the activities and prospects of SCO.

Indian-Afghan Refugees Airlifted Safely From Kabul

As many as 540 people including 475 Indian citizens were evacuated from Kabul to India on August 22. Also, at least 87 Indians and two other Nepalese were brought to Delhi in C-130 Hercules IAF aircraft from Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe in the morning of August 22. “The Taliban are specifically checking for people with Afghan passports and Indian visas and driving them back,” one of the Indian citizens said.

Rajnath Singh Holds Defence Talks With Central Asian Countries

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on September 5 held a discussion with his counterparts from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan in Moscow to strengthen defence ties. The Defense Minister tweeted regarding the talks and described the meeting as "productive", "extremely fruitful" and "wonderful". Defense Minister is on his three-day visit to Russia for an important meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
