Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1 Has Whopping Rs 200 Cr Collection In 3 Days

Director Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 1', has grossed a whopping sum of Rs 200 crore worldwide in just three days of release, said makers on October 3. The film, based on eminent writer Kalki's literary classic by the same name, a Magnus Opum's work, by Lyca Productions, in joint production. The critically acclaimed superhit film along with director Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, had biggest ever opening in Tamil Cinema.

Google often dedicates doodles to reknowned personalities. On October 1st, the search engine celebrated Sivaji Ganesan's 92nd Birth Anniversary. Also known as the Marlon Brando of South India’s film industry, he was regarded as the tallest actor in Tamil Cinema. He was also conferred upon by the highest honour in cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, in 1997. He had potrayed several mythologiacal characters and acted in multilingual movies.

Veteran Tamil Actor Vivek Passes Away At 59; Undergone Angioplasty

Veteran Tamil cinema actor Vivek passed away at the age of 59 in Chennai's SIMS Hospital on April 17. Reportedly, the actor had undergone angioplasty due to blockage of heart's blood vessels. The actor was announced as Tamil Nadu's state ambassador for vaccine awareness and had taken a vaccine jab on April 15. However, the doctors have denied the death caused due to vaccine shot.
