Manipur Reports 1st Case Of COVID-19 Omicron Variant

The Omicron variant of COVID-19 reached Manipur as the state reported its first case of the variant. On December 27, a 48-year-old resident of Imphal came from the Africa's Tanzania country via Delhi eight days ago, reported PTI. He has been sent into isolation and said to be stable so far. Besides, three members of his family have also been tested positive for COVID-19.

Tanzania, Ghana Added To "At Risk" Countries' List: Omicron

Indian Government, on December 7 added Tanzania & Ghana to the "at-risk" nations' list.  The two regions of Africa have been added amid the rising threat of Covid-19's new variant Omicron.  In the addition, there are 23 counties including the UK, US, and Germany are on the list. Amid the Omicron threat, India imposed strict travel rules, mandatory quarantine, RT-PCR tests, and thermal screening at airports for travelers.

Tourist Tries To 'Pet' Lion, Panics As Lion Jumps & Roars

At Tanzania's Serenegti National Park, a tourist reportedly opened his car window to pet a wild lion. A video was shared, in which the tourist was seen trying to take a few pictures of the lion, and when he was about to close the window, the lion jumped up and roared. The man went back to his seat in shock and panic. Luckily, he was able to close the window.

Government, Volunteers Try To Contain Fire On Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in the African continent, is on fire for the last four days. The government officials and a team of around 500 volunteers are working in tandem to contain the fire. The Tanzania National Park Services (TANAPA) informed that the volunteers have managed to limit the spread of fire. Moreover, no casualties have been reported as of now.
